Mirtiotissa beach has been known as Corfu’s nudist paradise (although not so secret anymore) and is described by some enthusiasts as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. It is also known as “the only beach in the island of Corfu where nudism is officially tolerated”. At this place, the visitor will experience the ultimate feeling of relaxed holidays. An oasis of silence, tranquillity and total freedom, far away from mass tourism. It is this place that Lawrence Durrell called “perhaps the loveliest beach in the world” in his Prospero’s Cell. The beach exerts its own unique charm, so if someone visits Myrtiotissa the first time he will certainly come back.Mirtiotissa (Myrtiotissa) is located between the villages of Pelekas and Vatos, in an isolated place on the western coast of the island, about 13km away from Kerkyra town. It borders with the beach of Glyfada but both are separated by high rocks. The beach of Mirtiotissa, with its crystal clear water, which took its name from the monastery, is one of the cleanest beaches in Corfu. No hotels, appartments or restaurants are on the beach so it still remains natural and unspoiled by progress. Breath-taking cliffs, wild vegetation, rocks of all sizes planted everywhere, make no room for tourist developement in this last naturist shelter.
