Agni beach is one of the most delightful places in Corfu. Until a few years ago it was inaccessible by foot. Hillsides covered in olive trees drop down to the very edge of the sea, where there is a small pebble beach with a few sunbeds and umbrellas. The scenery is amazing and quite refreshing during the hot summer days.
Getting to Agni with public transportation from Corfu town is almost impossible. The bus drops you 2km away from the beach; then there is a pretty road lined with luxury villas with beautiful views of the sea.
Walking down is pleasant enough but coming back up the hill will be quite a challenge on a hot day. If you go there by car be aware that parking is difficult in high summer – there is one small parking lot near the end of the road (approx 4 Euros fee for whole day).
The beach at Agni may be small, but a path at the end of the beach takes you to another one (200m), which is fairly quiet. Both beaches are pebble and small and they are defined by the flat rocks at each side – ideal for sunbathing. At Agni you will find a few boat rentals which can be your starting point to explore the north-east coast (rates start from 40-50 Euros on low season) which has an amazing coastline and a couple of bays unreachable by foot.
The waters, although warm are not reccommended for families with young children as they get deep fast but if you are visiting Agni during your summer holidays this is the place that you can combine a beach day with a bit of fishing under the cool shadows of the rocks.
