Remember to bring a camera, binoculars, a hat and sunscreen lotion. Also remember to bring along medicines such as anti-histamine and lotion for insect stings and bites.
WHAT TO WEAR
Cool clothing for summer, as well as your bathing suit and comfortable walking shoes. Warm clothing for winter as the temperature can drop considerably, with the wind chill factor especially prevalent on the island hilltops. We recommend you also bring a warm jacket, gloves, beanie and scarf to ensure you keep warm.
HOW’S THE WEATHER?
Corfu enjoys a warm and sunny Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and cooler, mild winters.
Temperatures in Corfu are at their lowest in winter. The average temperature is around 11°C in December that lowers to 10°C in January. Highs reach up to 15°C in the afternoon, which is quite mild and enjoyable for sightseeing and other outdoor activities.
The hottest time of the year is between June and September but July and August are the warmest months. Corfu weather in the summer is around 25°C with scorching highs of 31°C. The sea is warm at 25°C, making it perfect for an afternoon swim.
The weather in Corfu is mostly dry and sunny in the summer, with less than 22mm of rain per month. Things get damper by the time November arrives, with up to 161 mm of rain that lowers slightly to 140mm in December.
Spring is a quiet time on the island, making it ideal if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with lots of heat and sunshine. Corfu weather is warm with an average temperature of 19°C in April and up to 13 hours of sunshine each day.
INTERNET
Internet access is widely available throughout the island. Almost all hotels provide internet access, either free or paid. Local coffee shops usually offer free Wi-Fi access, as many other public places do. Feel free to ask for the password, if the network is locked.
ELECTRICITY
220 volts AC, 50Hz. Round two-pin plugs are used.
US visitors require a transformer and British visitors an adaptor. Most establishments provide these, alternatively they can be purchased at the airport or large electrical shops.
TIME
Like most countries in Europe, Greece observes Daylight-Saving.
In summer the time goes one hour forward to 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3).
In winter the time reverts back to Eastern European Time (EET) or (GMT+2)
